I have a 30 minute mpeg that I bought and have received the permission to cut down to use in another project. But when I pull the mpeg into VT-Edit it sits there "conforming" for hours and shuts down before ever getting where I can edit it.

Any ideas?

I've tried BINK tools to convert to an NT25 codec avi, but still no luck...any help?

Sounds like you will have to find another converter. VT does not play so well with mpegs.

I have never used Bink but you could also try rendering to an uncompressed avi instead of NT25. Just a thought.

There is a pretty decent free converter called SUPER.
I don't think NT25 shows up as a go to option, but uncompressed avi does.

You could also try VirtualDub which is pretty powerful esp for free

Another converter that I use for this application is a freebie at www.squared5.com.

TMPGEnc can convert it to any AVI format.

...but it ended up being a bad mpeg. Reconversion from the source fixed the problem. Thanks for the ideas on the conversion tools, though, I'm looking into some of those right now. My BINK tools from RAD work well, but as you all know, sometimes you can't make it with only one tool in the toolbox.
