My boss and I have noticed a hord of Untitled Project files being created.

Neither of us can see any preferance setting related to this or any other motivation for the creation of these files.

My boss really hates to see the folder filled with Untitled project files

Anyone have a clue why T2 does this? Or how we can stop it?

I appreciate your time.

If you do not make a change within Toaster Edit(adding at least one clip) it will not give you an option to save, discard, or cancel. So if you open Toaster Edit and quit without making a any change at all, an "Untitled" project and Undo/Redo stack are saved.
When you first fire up Toaster Edit, before you even drop a clip into it.. I would save the project, thus giving it a name. This allows the undo/redo stack to be created, but most importantly when you exit T2 it gives you an option to "save", "discard", or "cancel".
Or at least before you exit Toaster Edit drop a clip into it, this will also give you the prompt to discard the project so Toaster Edit will not autosave it..

Also I wouldn't save files within T2's default directory.. C:\VideoToaster2\Users\"current user"\ToasterEdit\
I would save them to a different location, this will help when you have to upgrade to a newer build or just reinstall your T2 software. Sometimes these folders are deleted when you uninstall the software.
We usually save to two different folders on two separate drives.. This ensures redundancy should a drive fail. I usually label them T2_Projects or something of that nature.

FWIW - like Doc said...

I keep all my projects in a TEDProjects directory outside of the VT2 directory and back them up to another drive as long as the projects are "active". I don't worry about all those "untitled..." projects, just let them accumulate and delete them when I think of it. Tell the boss to think of them as dust gathering in the corner, vac it up once in awhile and the cleaning crew won't get upset.

Thanks guys, appreciate the replys.
Good suggestions. The issue didn't become a problem until we started having a bunch of small projects on the machine at the same time, and they all begin with the letter U. Just gets wierd when your projects are mixed in with a bunch of untitled's.

You can delete them with no ill consequences, Lew.
It helps to get in the habit of going to File | New | and name the project you'll be working on as soon as you launch TEd.

And the easiest way to find them and delete, is to do a search(Cmd-f) for untitled* to find, then select all and delete. These projects and undo folders were made for you by TEd when you don't yourself do a Saveas yourself and are useless unless you've not done a saveas to a known path/name of your choice.
In that case your on your own to sort out which of the almost endless numbers of them are keepers.

The first thing to do always, when starting up a new Project is go to the File drop down menu and Saveas to some meaningful name. You won't have any "Untitled..." this or that clutter if you do this.
