Lovely attention to detail :) Is this a live project or personal work?
Thanks guys. This was my firm's most recent project.
Lighting was the standard Area Light set up of one for each window with Inverse^2 falloff and one under the floor with no falloff or shadows. MC radiosity at 2 bounces, 0.5 quality.
Here's another from the same project.....
Hey nice images there Iain!
Have you tried Kray? I think it can make your work even more beautiful!
I haven't tried Kray but I've been meaning to. There was some nice stuff on their gallery last time I looked.
Is it good for exteriors or just interior work?
Oh it's great for anything that has global illumination in it. :) I've done quite a few exterirors also with it. Even though the rendering is fast allready the new version (1.7) that will be out soon is going to be so fast that will let your jaw drop. ;) And there's even more exciting things that will be in 1.7 that I'm not allowed to talk about.

Beatiful renders, man. My only crits are that some of the shiny chrome stuff seems a little too shiny; just a bit too perfect, I think. But the only place it really jumped out at me was in that vent over the stove. That and, if I was eating dinner (or any meal really), I'd hate to be looking at that picture you have on the dining room wall! ;)

Beatiful work Iain. What kind of render times were you getting, and whats the specs for your machine(s)?
Most of my interiors render at print res in around 4-5 hours on one dual 3.2 MHz machine. I tend to leave them overnight but normally that would do it.
All the artwork was picked by the architect from my image collection. I like it but yeah, a bit strong for public rooms :D
Thanks.

Fantastic Images Iain for me as a person thats quite new to Lightwave to see images like this that can be produced from softwares like Lightwave its really an inspiration. If I didn't know it was done in a Lightwave I could easily mistaken these images as photographs. Totally fantastic pieces of work and it really shows where 3D can go in the future especially with computer games.

Ian,
Very nice. Only two small crits - there seems to be a poly error at the base cabinet corner near the kick plate - something is hanging down just a tad. Other one is just getting a bit less noise in the final render.
Nice.
Thanks Aaron, Charles.
Aaron, have you had a look at Maxwell Render and the new Fry Render? They take photorealism to new levels and Fry seems to be really quick.
They are unbiased render engines and use realistic physical measurements.
That would seem to be where the future lies for the photographic style of rendering.
