i want know if there is a way for me to boolean an object that has been subpatched.. i try to do a cut into a sphere with another sphere but the polygons around the cut wont become sub patched when i hit tab..... is there a way around this

You can not perform this kind of operation to a subpatched object.
The best way around this is to "Freeze" the subpatched object. I think this is under the "construct" tab.
That will freeze the detail of the geometry the way you like it.
Then you can perform the boolean.
Remember to press "m" to merge the points after any boolean operation.
I'm not sure you will be able to re-subpatch your object afterwards, but the detail should be there anyway if it had enough subdivisions to begin with.

FI does a fake boolean shader for doing animated booleans. You could try that to see if that's the effect you want...

You could also try using BGConfrom or KO_Pointfit to make your subpatched geometry conform to a sphere. Another possibility would be to use a texture map under Maps-----texture point
to displace the geometry based on the base object and a morphed position. The texture will only allow the points to morph based on the location of the map.
