I use the shuttle pro to controll my DDR's on my VT 4.6 system. I use two DDR's for replay and I use the suttles to control them. I have a third DDR open that i use the mouse to control and I use that strictly to play back my commercials for sports. I have the shuttle set up to hit one botton on each to start recording, then hit the same button to stop recording, A second button will put the ddr onto the preview bus and rewind the clip and set it into a slow mo playback. I transition to it and it plays. I then hit the second button on the second ddr and it palaces it into the preview bus and when the first relay is done it rolls the second. Problem. I have the first DDR record the Main in and the second record what ever source I have sellected on the preview buss. After about 3 times recording, When i start the DDR's recording, They will both stop and give me a capture error. I am designating two different drives for them to record to, but I cant find the solution. A buddy of mine turned me on to this with the controllers and its a great set up, but can't get past this problem. Any suggestion. Also, Being able so set up my shuttle to toggle through the CG windows that are open would be a major help. Lastly, if I can't get the DDR's working, whta is this ReplayTV everyone is using. Is it like a TVO and how convenient is it to use. Is it possible to use a shuttle controller with it? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Can you be more specific as to the error you are getting? I'm not sure why you'd have a problem with it, unless the DDRs are both still playing when you start recording and there isn't enough disk bandwidth to do it all.

You could probably do some ToasterScript to Set Focus to the correct CG module. I don't have the documentation in front of me, but it is posted in the ToasterScript forums. See if there is a command in there like SetFocus. I'm pretty sure there is.

ReplayTV is a Panasonic-brand version of a TiVo PVR device. It works basically the same as a TiVo. We use it as a backup to the DDRs, in case we miss a shot that had a better angle (it wasn't in program or preview). It does have some on-screen displays you have to watch out for, but it works pretty well. I'm not sure it could be easily controlled with a Shuttle controller. It may have a serial control interface on the back, but I'm not sure. You'd probably have a difficult time making it work.

The only error I get is when it stopps the DDr's after about 4 - 6 seconds, it just says "Capture Aborted". Is there any certain file type I should be using? The default it always sets it to is Uncompressed. I have set them up to capture to different drives, start them in different orders, nothing changes.

Uncompressed should be fine unless your drive arrays can't keep up. You could try DV if you want, that is harder on the processors, but easier on the hard drive array. DV still looks pretty good for replays.

Also, try unchecking the box that says "Abort on Dropped Frames" and see if that helps. Normal switching while recording causes sync glitches on each bus that can cause a frame or two to be dropped on the switch. If that option is on, the capture panel will abort the record. If it is just for instant replays you can leave it off. The replays will look fine.

You could also try going in to the preferences and setting the DDR resource usage setting to low. If you aren't using transitions or anything in a DDR then this might free up a few more system resources once all those clips start loading up the DDRs.
