Hey everyone. I've been working on this mig for quite a while but it's almost finished. I just have a few surfaces to texture and detail, maybe some dents in the airframe? Then ill be ready to post some final renders. Finally. I'm thinking about compositing it against one of those old concrete russian airfields if I can find just the right photo. So far it's proveing tough to find..
Anyway, let me know what you think so far. Suggestions welcomed :)

It doesn't look like a typical 3D rendering, more like a nice 2D illustration. I like it. Care to share any little tricks you used to get that painterly look?

Thanks Dave. I suppose it looks a little flat since there's no envirorment and maybe the lighting. As far as createing the texture maps I put a lot of work into the diffuse and dirt maps. Just carefully painting in the grime while useing as much photo reference as I can get my hands on.
One thing that helped break up the surface was useing a rust or metal texture in the alpha channel. I then made selections based on this to adjust the levels, sateration and brightness on the mig's map, (thanks to Dons for this tip.)
I should have some final renders pretty soon. Right now i'm finishing up the landing gears which are taking a lot of tweaking.

I was going to post a link to spinquad, since most of my renders are already there. But it looks like they needed to make room so it's gone. Ill post a few more views for ya tonight Dave :)

Here's another view from the business end and from above this time. I would have made another but my render times are really starting to add up. Let me know what ya think.

Great model man :) However a small correction: The business end is the front of an aircraft.
Business end has no relation to with, say a dog, doing it's business (taking a dump).
