Well, my VT2 is up and running - soon to be VT3. I'm designing an Anvil case for it and I am looking for a good UPS system that can be rack mounted. I've just begun my research and have so far only looked at www.apc.com. I'm hoping some of you can reduce my research time.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but when finding the right UPS system it is the total Watts that your computer system uses that you want to match or exceed by the power supply.

Thanks for the help.

My vote is for the APC units - I have used these for years and I believe the company is the best.
As for capacity - the APC website has a "calculator" to help you determine the correct unit to cover your needs. Remember to include enough capacity to handle your monitor and anything else you would need to keep running if you loose power. You also need to figure how long you want to be able to run on battery power under that load.

You can't go wrong with APC. But remember, these units are HEAVY. Make sure you have solid handles and casters.

What case are you using for the VT computer and video drives?

Thanks wvp and Stivan for your input. I liked what I saw at the APC website and I'll definitley use that calculator to check out my needs.

Stivan, I use the AMS CF-481 chassis. It's a great chassis.
Specs:
Dual P4-Xeon CPU ready
8 Open 5.25" and 1 open 3.5" drive bays
Optional hot-swap RAID racks for additional storage
420W ATX power supply
Redundant power supply option
3 (12cm) cooling fans
7 standard slots (upgradable to 12 or 14)
Power on/off switch wit LED, reset button and HDD LEDs
Foldable alloy handles
Dimensions: 7" (H) x 19" (W) x 26" (D)
For server board size: 12" X 13"
Available in black, white/beige color

For my raid I use a Media 480 RTRX raid. It rocks.

I hope this helps.
