hey,

Can anyone give me some great tips on how to texturize a Bacteria?
I tried tweaking with the Procedurals, but I always seem to screw it up :D

so if I anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it ;)

what does bacteria look like?? Do you mean the B/W electron microscope look?? There are some presets for that over at luxology.

I mean the bacteria kind we have in our bodys, and make us sick :D
the biological ones ;)

this is a quick reference pic I've found on google ;)

That's okay. You might find something over at Preset central, work a peek.

If you don't have the Darktree LW Simbiont, download it (free) from http://www.darksim.com

You'll find a preset called "technoXRay.dsts", I believe it may be pretty close to what you're looking for.

Maphistal

Oki, I'll give it a try then :D

Lolz,
I tried the plugin, then I came out something like this,
don't mind the screwy left and right one, and the lame background :D
did this one in 5 mins or so ;)

the effect on the bacteria is quite cool though :D

Try increasing the render sub patch resolution in the object properties panel, will give you a smoother finish.

Maphistal
06-09-2003, 09:50 AM
this better? :D
used a subpatch level of 20 in this one ;) :D

riki

That looks better, still some funky polys in there that need tweeking. ie the pinching

Maphistal
06-09-2003, 10:16 AM
yeah,
you've got a point there, but ooh well,
it was just a darksim shader test :D

Maphistal

I didn't think of this one.

This is a tutorial on modeling blood cells. I think if you make them blue instead of red, this is pretty close to what you're trying to do.

http://www.newtek.com/products/lightwave/tutorials/modeling/bloodcells/index.html

If you want to animate them, there's also an animation tutorial in the tutorials section as well.
