Is the educational version the same thing as Discovery edition?
Cause I input the license key and it tells me I'm running the Discovery edition.
When I purchased this from the retailer it said there were NO limitations and it is a full working copy. That I just could not sell any work from it.

What your reseller told you is correct. The educational version is the same as the commercial version, except for the licensing agreement.

If you're in Discovery Mode, it usually means your license key or dongle aren't being read properly. Do you have the USB dongle plugged into your machine, and is the LED on it lit? If you open your "license.key" file in your text editor, is the permanent license key entered properly, and is there anything else in the file, other than the key (number with dashes)?
