View Full Version : Pedestrian Bridge
A current project we are working on. Crits and comments welcome.
Sorry Pavlov no 3d people yet.
Nice picture. 2D people are still more convincing than the odd 3D people you can easily spot in a picture. I guess simple raytracing ??

Hi, good work, 2D people looks good here.
The place where you wont ever get them totally right is in diffuse lighting situations, but at a distance and in direct light situations they can look good.

I like this one, nice to see a bridge. :)
The 2d people fit in nice too, just maybe the guy with the wheelchair on the left where the lighting angle seems like it doesn't match. Same thing with a couple of the trees on the right where the lighting looks difuse and the contrast is low compred with the others.
Good stuff.

very! nice work all around. three things that struck me: the fill light under the highway bridge seems kinda dark. maybe it's the camera angle, but something seems out of scale, is the tractor trailer too small or the kayak too big (they're both important as they frame your composition) (or if they are to scale maybe lowering the camera might help), and i'd bet a small bit of motion blur on the highway vehicles would help the focus on the bridge. congrats:thumbsup:

Hey your from Regina arent you? I knew that bridge looked familair! Nice to know that there are others using Lightwave in this city among the many Maya users coming out of NMC. Very nice work! Nice touch with the green algae stains where the concrete meets the water, that was the first think I looked for ;). I'm just curious, do you ever use AutoCAD for your work or is it all modeled in Lightwave?
There seems to be more in the way or Arch Viz going on in this province than I previously thought. I was also surprised to find out that Accutrans3D was made here to.
I think it's a nice work and 2d people work nicely also. I would change tha camera angle to something that would accentuate bridge more. Right now it get's kind of lost in the picture. Maybe it's too bright water reflection also what's causing the viewer a bit confused. Oh yea and that red bridge tail is too bright red...
cheers!

1. No fill lights in the scene. I probably should have had one under the bridge
2. the camera angle is fairly wide angle so the scale issues can crop up. the vehicles are correct scale but the kayak was a point of discussion between us and the client. He thought it might have been too big.
3. By lowering the camera I would have had to do a lot more backround work and thats why you only see a little bit over the traffic bridge.

Yes we are based in Regina and yes Wayne Hogue Accutrans's Author is from here also. We model in Autocad and sometimes do minor model fix ups in Lightwave. Give me a call sometime and come visit the office. Sometimes we farm out work if we get too busy. (352-5580)

The red is very close to railing color. The acutual paint chip name was neon red!
Thanks for all the crits and comments.

Oh yes, i know this problem to well. One client always wants that view for his buildings so i am stuck with finding a good backround image that fits in perspective and scale since trees don't always help in that situation. And obviously its not easy to make a photo for comping too.
I think for MC 2 bounce the shadow under the bridge is to crisp and dark, thats why i asked.

The DXF to Imagine IOB converter was originally created for Rob because only poorly operating DXF conversion software was available for the Amiga. When it was decided to sell the DXF converter, it was named AccuTrans 3D.

Very interesting Wayne, I didnt realise it was on the Amiga originally. Same roots as Lightwave then . AccuTrans3D is definetly a must have 3D tool in my opinion. I have had it for just over a week now and it makes life much easier when working between 3D programs. :)

Very nice work. Only thing I'd change is the area of the walls along the water...it looks too bright to me. Perhaps a gradient on the diffuse would fix that.

From a designer, investor POV, I would remove the people from the road bridge... kind of defies the point of pedestrian bridge, doesn't it? ;)

I agree. I had first submiteed the render without people on the traffic bridge but the client asked me to add some people there as not all people on that route would be walking on the parks walkways.
