Was hoping someone could walk me through the procedure for setting up a Mackie CR1604-VLZ, or similar board, for a voice over recording session. The part that gives me the trouble is the aux send back to sound booth so that the talent can hear me and playback of a previous recording if necessary. Of course none of this chatter can be on the main out otherwise it will wind up being recorded as well.

So, so far I have an XLR cable linking the sound booth to mic 8. This is assigned to L/R. The sound exists main out and goes directly into the back of the Video Toaster, entering the program as Main In. Everything appears to be working fine so far.

The problem is the editing room mic. It plugs into channel 9. What I don’t get is how do I tell the board to send the whole ball of wax – my voice, the talent’s voice – out aux send and into the board in the sound room?
