Importing poser content to LW

Hi All,
I have just put a new tutorial online, it covers how to get Poser figures into Lightwave 3d, complete with textures, without having to buy expensive software.

The guide looks good. Using dodgy's MTL loader scripts save a lot of time over trying to set up the surfaces manually.

One step that i would recommend after loading the obj files from poser into lightwave would be to merge points. If i remember correctly the obj file exported from poser is in a few segments.

I think you can get it to do this either with or without merge points...

I did not want to do this once the figure had left Poser or Daz or whatever, as I often used posed figures as morph targets, and I am not sure point order will be reliable if I muck about!

The Accutrans 3d has a few more options, you might find it worth trying.

I haven't read the guide yet, but don't merge points immediately. The segmented geometry is very useful for setting up weightmaps - select a poly on, say, the thigh and hit ] - you now have all the polys for the thigh selected and can apply a weightmap easily. Same for UV separation.

Once this is done, you can merge the geometry and then blur the weightmaps to soften boundaries.
