I am starting a project and want some suggestion on how to approach it. I am trying to have an effect like the goo in a lava lamp, but I want to morph and split letters instead of the non discript goo. The effect is also like a cell subdividing in two. I want some control over the shape of the letters as they divide and melt together. If any one saw the movie Flubber. Flubber bounced around as a character but was able to divide and melt back together etc. Thats what I am looking for

Can I still use hypervoxels (which is what I would use for just plain lava lamp) or should I try some sort of ParticalFX trick.

Any help would be apprieciated.

I'd be inclined to use letters, kill the polys, then slap some morphs on the points, using these as the basis for the HVs

exactly ;) better yet though, use spray points to paint a cloud of points in the shape of the letters, so you have a thick 3D HV glob....
