this is my first attempt at making a piece of jewelry and i don't completely understand the cut of a diamond so its probably wrong.
anywho... C&C always welcome.

anyway--I don't know anything about how diamonds are supposed to be cut, so I cannot advise on that subject. I think that the lighting could be a little warmer, and just a wee tad sharper... some caustics would be nice.

Looks to be a very nice model.

I think the thing is lacks is a good environment map, or model to reflect - it looks milky with the white background.

I agree... the image looks too dark... Caustics would help alot in making the image more interesting... I also think that if you position a light so that it reflects directly off the diamond it would look more interesting.
The modeling looks pretty good - I like the little prongs coming around the diamond...

I think for a still like this, you should have more poly's in the ring because you can see the stepping at the right.

just to the left of the diamond the cloths bump map looks warped wierdly.

looking good though, just needs some adjustment I think.

oh.. with the specular off the diamond you could even consider adding a glow?
