Hello!
I have the following task:
I have a walking character, with 1 cycle animated.
I want to make it to repeat its animation while it moves its path.
Anybody knows - is there any controller or other simple way to do it, without going to create character in Motion Designed and all that messy stuff?

could you bake the motion in an mdd and then parent the whole shebang to a null and animate that baked animation through the null?

The idea is to have only 1 animated cycle. And that software would repeat it as long as I move that object along some way...

In LW9, use Relativily Dr Cycler.
Measure the stride length of the step, and you'll be able to keep the feet stuck on the ground as you move the master null. There's an tutorial in the original documentation that takes you through this.
Give me a shout if you need it.
Good luck.

Thanks, but I want to stay in LW 8.5...

interesting......if i understand correctly.. you want to walk cycle to start only if the object is moving...and to stop if the object is still?
sounds like expression chalenge.
other way i guess it would be to use the motion mixer?

Yes, something like that. But I don't want to use Motion Mixer for some reasons. I was sure there was some Motion Modifier to cycle animation basing on object travel distance.
Currently I will workaround that, but in future it would be great to have motion modifier which will cycle walk cycles basing on object travel path, and maybe even mix walk cycles basing on simple distance comparisons.

well just saw siggraph videos.. they mention the same thing and its possible with relativity 2... car wheels to start rotating when the car start moving. To bad you dont wana switch to LW9.

You can also use the standard Cycler Plugin that's ships LW 8 (&7.5) to do much the same thing - just not as elegantly.

Actually you want to use Cyclist. Its similar to Relativitys Dr Cycler. Cycler in LW is a channel based version of Cyclist.
