Anybody know what the *scalar bump tool* does in the real world? I'm not sure what the difference is to a default bump node?

Probably a stupid question: They're listed as (Intel Win32). Are the nodes processor specific?

No - but the plugins are OS specific (win32, win64, or OSx)

Well, in CG land Bumps are vectors meaning they contain 3 channels as X, Y, Z,
directional information. In Lightwave previous to version 9 as well as in the
layers of LW9 (surface editor -> Bump -> T) Scalar (one channel) information
is used for the height information and the projection mode or normal was used
as the directional information - kinda. The "Scalar Bump Tool" node brings
this function to the Node Editor. This can be useful in many cases.
I've added all his nodes to my LW and they have a home along with other
various tidbitts in LW9/plugins/3rdParty/Nodes/
Pretty good stuff!
