I'm new to the Toaster and now that it is installed my machine will not go in to standby and I have to manually turn it off. Windows is blaming the Toaster driver for not cooperating. Is that the way it is or can it be worked around?
Thanks.

No word on this? Can't use power mgmt. on my system and it's blaming the toaster. Is this a known problem or is my set up screwy?

Most people with VT systems have no use for Power Management functions and disable them, since they can frequently cause problems.
For instance, when you are recording even a moderate length project to a VCR (or Capturing to the HD), you will not normally be using the mouse or keyboard - it's seriously annoying to come back and discover Power Management has kicked the system off after 20 minutes or so.
Apart from that, one can see how having drives (for example) go to 'sleep' or having the monitor blank out can be a pain. I'm sure there are other issues. I'd say turn 'em off and pay the extra two bucks on your power bill :)

Be that as it may my question is not whether I should use power mgmt but simply if VT is incompatible with power mgmt.
Thanks.

When I set up my machine, I was told to turn it off.

Depending on the BIOS it may be an issue, and it may not.
If the Power Management is off, as recomended then it's a completely moot point.
(I guessing...................:D )

Thanks. I really couldn't say. Sorry you didn't find that helpful (in the absence of hard fact from NewTek on the point, it was meant to be.)

No worries. I'm just trying to find out if the VT breaks power mgmt. Sounds like it's a machine by machine case. I don't want the machine to go to sleep after 20 minutes but if it hasn't done anything for 6 hours I wouldn't mind if the drives we spun down and the monitor went to sleep. Just trying to reduce our large appetite for wattage.
