I have 4 vga and 1 DVI connectors on the back of my tricaster Pro
Obviously the pair of DVI and VGA on the main card are the main interfaces.
What are the others for? They came with a plastic cap on them....

I am trying to get a way to input a vga connection into the tricaster.
I have used the iVGA it seemed to corrupt my directx driver.

Thanks for any help

Those have caps on them so you don't plug in a monitor source to them. First there is like you said, the graphics card VGA input; that's OK to use (infact it can be used as a preview monitor if you want).

The two next to it are for the VT card; it's half of the hardware that makes the TriCaster a unique computer. Normally in VT you would use these for expansion purposes, for instance; hooking up an SX-84 (however TriCaster has not been setup for this functionality as it already has the SX-3 front panel, do not attempt to plug any devices into it).

The last VGA port capped off is an input the onboard graphics card, it's just been disabled and there's no point in reactivating it since you already have a more powerful graphics card included in the TriCaster.

As for importing a VGA signal: if iVGA is causing problems you should call or e-mail tech support and we can fix that because you shouldn't have any problems with your machine. Otherwise you can try looking for a box to convert VGA to RCA composite. Or better yet; most desktops and laptops nowdays come equipped with graphics card that can do Y/C (S-Video) out. Getting those to work is a simple switch in your display settings, and if your computers are in close proximety and you have Y/C out on your computer that's probably the best solution you have for this problem.

I have just received my tricaster, after playing around with the interface it crashed several times, i´m trying to repeat this testing in order to see exactly when this crashes occurs and then post a complete description of the problem.

Well here are my questions related to iVGA:

Is Tricaster netwok adapter really works at 1000 megabits ?

I been playing around and I didn´t like the quality of iVGA, In my presentations I use Scala Infochannel Designer and this includes, video and animations within the same presentation. I used iVGA with my network wich is a 100 base ethernet and the animation and transitions really looks bad trought iVGA. Is there any other way to broadcast with better quality my presentations?

Should I buy a gigabit network to broadcast my VGA signal with better quality?

Can I braodcast iVGA via firewire? and how this can be acomplished?
(I mean conecting my computer to the tricaster via a firewire cable)

I don´t want to loose a video channel of the tricaster with my vga input, so thats way I require an iVGA solution. (This was one of the reasons I decided to buy Tricaster)

Thank you very much.

TriCaster (100 or Pro) does not have a gigabit card, it's just 10/100, and yes you can use iVGA through Firewire and it will show a higher framerate (I've used iVGA through firewire to playback video), of course all of this greatly depends on the client computer more than anything, I can't stress that enough.

You may want to download the latest version of iVGA (available at http://reg.newtek.com/ to registered TriCaster users). There are some technical differences made in it that make it process faster, so you might get a higher framerate using it instead.

Thank you Dan...
I cheked the iVGA version of the download area and the date is from the last year. I have just received my Tricaster. Doesn´t it supposed to have the latest version? Is there a newer version?

Why in the world would you not have gigabit on the Pro? This is quite shocking to me - wouldn't gigabit help the streaming capability immensly?

Dear Anyone Who Knows (I would have said 'NewTek folk', but there's plenty of other Folk Who Know onboard here -- which makes this board so great):

Would something like this work for getting higher-than-100Mbps-speed iVGA input into the TriCaster? (I would have said 'gigabit', as it appears to be marketed as a 'Gigabit [...] Network Adapter', but it appears to be limited to USB 2.0 speed, which is still faster than 100Mbps...)

If you want faster speed for the IVGA input then the easiest way is with the Firewire connection. I found that the USB 2.0 speed is not always as it seems on paper. The firewire connection that we figured out, works at Gigabit speeds. It is actually pretty easy to setup as long as each box is WinXP pro.
