You have to learn the art of UV's. Colourred Polys doesn't really cut it. Also the feet look a bit too big.

He looks neat, for a cartoon :D
Hey, try cel-shading him! Bet he'd come out looking like Yogi or something!
You going to rig him for animation?

your probably right about the feet...depends on how his character turns out..a lumbering big bear with big feet could be nice..they still need editing though as they look a bit lumpy and the hands need tweeking around the wrist area too....and i'm not convinced with his eyes...i think they need tobe smaller and close to each other....i'll try some ideas out n post them over the weekent so people can comment on what works and what looks naff.
re:u.v's.... :^)
i learnt the art of uv's about 5 years ago!...in bryce, inspire 3d, 3ds max 2.5...then max 3 then max 4 then lightwave 7....7.5!
i'm not going to use bitmaps for this project...just proceduals and cel shade/sas lite possibly
your right though, well spotted!, the colour of the belly area for the bear is just based off polys currently...this will change of course when he's done.
the bear will most likely be shaded either by lightwave's cel shader, BESM or the unreal shader or..possibly sas lite fur.
I'm currently very partial to the style of "beyond" from the animatrix so celshade/water colour is high on my list for the style
of the book that i'm making [childrens story book] which may have a cdrom section as well.
BTW, i teach cgi with max/combustion at a college in the u.k
so i could run it through my combustion to grade/age it a little
so taking the digital look from it.
he is nice though!...based off yogi bear,a bear from it's ming and scooby doo [which is a dog!!]
mum and son to come next!.....
then "goldi"..........................
