Hopefully this is a simple question with a simple answer...
I'm attempting to setup a network render with LWSN. I'm using tutorials to figure it out, and every tutorial has a step about making a ".bat" file so that LWSN knows what it's doing. None of the tutorials seem to say what to name it or how it's seen by LWSN. I'm definitely not understanding/missing something. At the moment, when I start LWSN, it immediately closes a split-second later. Is there a certain place the ".bat" file should be saved? Does it have to be pointed to in the config files? I hope this question makes sense.
I appreciate any help. Thanks.

I am currently learning the same network rendering process and here is what I have found in the way on "user friendly" tutorials on the subject.
www.firedragon.com/~fabio/screamer/screamer.htm (http://www.firedragon.com/~fabio/screamer/screamer.htm)
or
www.robpowers.com (http://www.robpowers.com) this one has a link to the networ set up tutorial using lightnet network for LW
I have tried "how to set up screamer painlessly" and noticed a few errors in some command lines so be watchful. This tutorial explains how to name and sav a .bat file you were referring to. It says to save the file (command lines or ack files) in the Programs folder in the root LightWave directory where you have it installed then rename it to the .bat extension and assign a text editor to that file type in the windows options.
definition of "user friendly": I have no programming or DOS experience whatsoever :D
I hope this helps you.
If anyone else knows of any other good beginners guide to setting up network rendering let me know!
Thanks

I just use notepad and save the files as lwsn1.bat, lwsn2.bat, etc. on the desktop of each rendering computer. By saving it with the .bat extension you automaticly make it a "batch" file in that each line is executed as if it was done at the command prompt. Keeping the files on the desktop just makes them real handy to fire up!
Inside lwsn1.bat it would be the line using ack1 job1, inside lwsn2.bat it would be ack2 job2, and so on. You can actually call the batch files anything you want as long as the end in .bat, are different, and what's inside them is correct, and put them anywhere you want (cause what's inside is always run from command prompt no matter where the .bat file is stored) but keeping things obvous and systematic is the best way!
If you have any dual processor systems, you need to make two files for each one of those.
If you have an especially fast processor on your network that is faster than the host workstation processor (where you are running LW) you might want to make that xxxxx1.bat and ack1, job1, that way, if you screamer render a single frame you get results the fastest. :D
You will probably have to mess around with those batch files a lot until the lucky moment when it starts working, so if you create an icon for notepad on your desktop you will be able to just drag and drop your batch files onto it to work on them. ;)
