View Full Version : More music video strangeness...
OK, here's some more stuff from the music video I'm making for The Punk Group (http://www.thepunkgroup.com). These two heads are in the likeness of the two band members Brian and Tony (Tony's head isn't textured yet, obviously). They come up out of the floor and sing their song.
See my other threads to see the video set and the other characters.
Here's a set image to show where they'll be. Look closely and you'll see a couple circles on the walkway in front of the big screen. The head's will come up from those circles.
Here's a couple close ups. Like I said in the first post, the head on the right hasn't been textured yet.
Lookin' good Gabe.
But you need to add some babes. :D
Can't wait to see the final project.
I hope they are paying you alot or will get you exposure on MTV or something as it looks like you're putting alot into it.
Cheers,
JS

Does a sexy robot girl (http://www.sad-world.com/germany/germany.htm) count? She's the star of the video.

LOL!! You mean people get PAID for this?!!?

I pressume you know how to do this, thats why i haven't posted this in the tips section...
How can you get something you recorded on a digital cammera to be played on those big screens, or on any surface for that matter (in lightwave)!
jin'a ,
I haven't done yet but here's the plan:
Open the image editor panel and choose 'load'. Browse to the sequence of images you want to load (they should be numbered sequencially). Once they're loaded change their type from 'still' to 'sequence'. Now that you have the sequence loaded, you can apply it to any surface in the surfaces panel the same way you would any other imagemap.

Oh hehehehe I must have missed that post.
Yeah I guess that counts. :p

Yes sometimes a lot! :D

I did a few renders with the heads in the set with some colored lights. This is the general look I want for the final product.
Hi Gabe,
Nice but the heads kinda get lost in the scene. Maybe a spot light
with volumetrics on each head would look cool.

JS
I think it needs more detail. Especially the poles. They look a bit distracting.
Also the wall behind the screen reminds me of a loading dock for some reason?? You know those roller-doors. Which kinda breaks the feel.
Otherwise it looks promising. Maybe play around with lighting and fog/smoke FX.

Yeah, I plan on doing a spotlight or some other localised light in there. But there'll also be some scenes where the heads are sort of 'out of the spotlight' because Germany (the girl robot) will be the center of attention.

Hehe... I knew some people would be asking for more detail. You might be right.... but I like it this minimal. I think once the music is playing and the robots are there and all the animation is happening it will look busy enough.

Yeah I guess it does sort of have a 'garage door' look to it. Hmmm.... problem is I made it that way to go with the look the other side of the room (the set (http://www.sad-world.com/germany/set.htm)). Oh well, I'll see what I can do with it. I know I don't want it to just be a blank wall.

Man, I would love to but I'm afraid rendering times aren't going to allow me to add volumetrics. But yes, that would be killer.
Smoke would be good but I know what you mean. Has anyone tried that online render farm?? http://www.respower.com/

Yeah, I did their online quote thing and just confirmed that it would be way too expensive. I don't have any money for this project really so I have to make do with the 3 computers at my house (maybe just one if I can't figure out network rendering... I just have one seat of Lightwave).
Anyone know of any studios that donate rendering time for no buget independent projects?
Anyhow, here's one last render. I probably won't be posting any more pics for a while.... time to concentrate on the animation part. I put Germany in this one and added a spotlight. I know her arms get sort of lost but I'll deal with that later. Right now I need to start animating or this project will never get done.
I used it twice, from france, and it worked perfectly.
Just do some one frame test renders before lauching the big render.
you don't need several LW copies to do network rendering. And it's not soooo difficult. I'm sure you will find somebody here in the forum with the same type of PC who will help you.

Yeah, when the time comes I'm sure I'll figure it out. I'll have to. Fortunately, there're plenty of bright people in these forums to help me along. I've only attempted to get the whole network rendering thing going once but it was a pretty weak attempt done out of curiousity. It seemed damned complicated but I know more about networks and such these days then I did then.
there is a post in Tips and tricks about a little soft that is supposed to help the network rendering process, did you see it?
mips,
No, but I'll check it out. Thanks.
