Is it common to get an error upon exiting Aura 2.5b? I get a "Aura2.5 has generated errors" style of mesaage when I quit the program under Windows 2000.
Anyone else get this, or have I made a bad install?

Yup, same here!
Tried many ways of shutting LW7.5 and Aura, but no joy so far, always receive the error.

Hmmm. Wierd. If everyone has this problem, maybe we can hope for a .c patch...

I think the problem is from the hub where it communicate with lightwave or modeler and aura. If i load aura alone and quit, there are no error occur.

Odd eh?
The hub definitelly is still a source of some difficulties. I see it fail to work at all quite often, or cause various problems, such as failing to recognize Modeler changes and update them in Layout.
Don't get me wrong, I like the hub overall, but it is a bit finickity in many regards...

Yeah, I just got this error, and yup, the hub was running. Evidently an incompatibility with the hub and Aura yet.
Is there a way to A) just start the hub rather than starting LW, Modeller or Aura and having it start in the background or even B) have it autostart on bootup?
I just now tried starting Aura from the Hub... I got an error message:
File not found!
-c"C:\Documents
That may be related.

Wierd -- I can;t start Aura from the hub -- it is not listed in the "Launch" list. there is a new blank item there (!?!) but it gives a "Cannot Launch" error.
I think you can start the hub seperately, yes -- there's an icon for the executable in the Lightwave folder (in the same folder where you find the LW aqnd Modeler icons).

When I first installed Aura I did the standard install, not knowing i had to choose custom for the lightwave part of the update. When it was installed that way, I didn't get an error when I closed aura. Now that I have installed the lightwave part it does crash. Funny thing is, I think this last time it crashed taking the hub with it. So I agree it is definetly something with the way Aura links to the Hub.

ok i have the same exact problem when shutting down aura with the hub open crashes. i talked with tech support earlier to figure out where the lw plugin was, and then after the custom intall it was loaded. then it wouldn't work so i called tech support again, and they sent me a e-mail detailing a few problems with the plugin. so then i went and renamed several folders and files to remove any spaces. now the plugin works... sort of but it still crashes.
anyone figure out how to avoid this problem?

i contacted tech support again, and they informed me that it is a intermitent problem even on there machines. if anyone has discoverd ways at avoiding this crash now is a good time to speak up. the future of aura does not look good, and future support is probrobly also gone. makes you wonder why the big push with 2.5b when released and now the abandonment.... feeling a less than satisfied about my recent purchase.
my system:
windows 2000 pro
LW 7.5
aura 2.5b

Yes, it does seem odd, and certainly disheartening. I'm betting that support for Aura will continue under a new deal of some kind -- from what the rumour mill is spreading anyway... it looks like a new company will market and support Aura (though maybe unde rthe new (old) name "TVPaint".

After trying different solutions, I have been able to force aura to not crash on exit. If the process priority of aura is set to high in the task manager the program will close perfectly without error. Of course this is a issue that should be addressed by Newtek in the actual software.
I am now able to actually start working in the app. I am very impressed so far with the programs tools, the painting tools are awesome! Extremely powerful to have so many modes for each tool type. :D

Cool!
That's a good trick -- I'll give it a try.
You're right -- it's a great software package! Swet paint modes, and the effects you can pull off with the layers / spare page / filters are sweet too.
I still love the custom brush above all esle thoug...

Many thanks for the tip, works fine when set process to high :-)
Is there a way to start Aura with high priority every time it loads?
TIA

According to rabid pitbull's message,
I made a batch as follows:
cmd /c start /d"C:\Aura25" /HIGH Aura25.exe
P.S.
Save it in anyname.bat in any directory maybe Aura folder is good.
Also in the above line, C:\Aura25 is my case.
It means cmd.exe start Aura25.exe from C drive\ Aura25 directory with High priority.

And this workaround is doing the job for you? No more problems?
