howdy,
some of you might've seen versions of this in the wip section etc..
I have to leave it now so I may as well post it and see what you people think..
hope you like it..

Well, since it doesn't look any different then it did before, I guess we all think the same as in the WIP forum.
i think the caustics are cool, but the reflections are off, its not like they would be 100% pure white.

I think the absence of a compound shadow (from the pearls) in the shadow of the front gem is very distracting to me. I looks like the necklace is floating, no weight.

I was assuming that some people dont visit the wip section, blah blah..
sorry to have disturbed your sense of smugness..thanks for the constructive comments everyone else..

Ok, I'll play along. Let's take a stroll down memory lane and see all these changes that warrant notice...
You started off with believable looking diamonds. Then, you added rubies and undersized pearls while simultaneously altering the reflected colors in the diamonds, essentially turning them into crystals. Finally, this "I cleaned it in photoshop, levels, colours etc.." results in merely a different colored tabletop.
You also failed to address WizCraker's comments in WIP.
So fine, TECHNICALLY it is different then the WIP forum, but come on. Don't be mad at me for pointing out the truth, be mad at yourself.

Hello. I don't see how and why you would ***** about other people not praising you or your work. Everyone has gave you more then their share of helpfull opinions that would greatly better your work. Instead, you refuse to change your work and accept that the choices you made, were not the best ones. So either suck it up, and don't give us any grief, or accept the changes that need to be made, then show us your work again.
Now, for my comments ;). The diamonds look like they are floating, whether this is the lights or the objects are actually floating, I do not know. Also, the first set of diamons (from the pictures above), look more real. Right now, they look like glass with some funky lighting. Also, the pearls need to be bigger, they look like mini pee's right now ;)
Overall, this could look great, but if your not willing to accept our comments and crit's, you mind as well not even post your work. If you ask for crits and you do not act on them, chances are that sooner or later, you will be ignored. Hope this helps you.

ok, I'll bite..
zarathustra, thanks for the helpful critisism in the wip, oops, there wasnt one..
I posted this in the wip asking for comments to help while I was constructing the scene, I got one comment about smoothing my colours with a gradient, I'm not sure how to do that so I asked for advice & waited, no reply, (see wip)
I post pics I work on in the wip section, when I know I'm not going back to it I posted in finished, with, as you so helpfully pointed out, very little change, sorry if I'm breaking your rules...
as to the other crits, thanks guys but it wouldve been more usefull as I was working on it, things for future reference I guess..
I didnt think I came across as only wanting praise, I apologise if this is how it seemed.
I guess in future I'll keep my posts to myself..
thanks for clarifying my position for me, here I was thinking I was just sharing my pic with fellow lightwavers,

Yeah, did someone delete their message? I could have sworn someone said something about the relative scale of the pearls to the gems. That's why I didn't post anything before in the WIP forum.
Oh well, now you got some feedback. Better late then never. Settle down and don't be so sensitive.
btw - I don't believe you have to make every change people tell you to, but just show that you're doing something.

Phaedrus, it's easy to react too sensitively to criticism. Normally I jump all over people here for being too abrasive in their criticism, but I don't think anyone has been particularly harsh with you.
I haven't commented because it's a bit out of my arena. I knew there was something not-quite-right in the original, but I couldn't put my finger on it, and figured it'd be best not to comment.
Believe me, I've had that same attitude before, that I wouldn't post any more because I couldn't get encouraging feedback. Then I posted my Coke scene, got all types of feedback, and finally stopped soliciting advice when *I* felt it was finished enough. There's always going to be things that can be changed, but there comes a point when it's a question of personal aesthetics rather than the mechanics of the scene.

hi,
I try not to be too sensitive..:)
I didnt think I was defending my right to post, I thought I was pointing out to people like zarathustra(?) to try and be a little more accurate in their posts & a little less attacking.
he seemed to be enjoying himself a little too much...if he could get pics from all my posts & show me up with them, he could've spent the time to actually read the posts under them before slagging me off.
I might've also accepted it with a bit more grace if he'd posted some of his advice in my wips...
round 2 ?
ding!

My initial post was basically accurate.
My next post was to defend the first post AND to respond to your charge of "smugness".
Third post is honest truth. Maybe I was just under little sleep and I imagined seeing a post about the relative scales, but for some reason I thought the comment was already made and therefore saw no need to repeat. That did strike me when I was fetching your earlier images that I didn't see a post like that. I don't know what I was thinking.
I have no intention of going "rounds" with you. I'll comment on people's works, give crits and advice and I'll respond to what I feel are questions and/or attacks on me to a point, but I won't continue in a perpetual mud-slinging, Jerry Springerish kind of thing. Launching into "rounds" of personal attacks is childish and counterproductive to the intent of this forum.
I feel sad for you that you feel you didn't get the quality or quantity of responses to your work that you wanted before. We've all posted stuff that just got brushed off and seemingly ignored. Oh well. It's not something anyone should take personally.
you know gettin harsh crit from Z is still nicer than gettin a load of flak. i see constructive crit from Z, just learn to ignore all the harsh stuff he dishes out. it'll make u stonger in the long run.
