I doff my cap (that's a good thing). Great job!
I don't know if it's due to the totally white environment or not but it seems too perfectly shiny or reflective.

Oh yeah, I dig that! But, um, his car rarely stayed in one piece...

I'm not into cars and even less into F1 (boring as heck IMHO and contributes to global warming spewing out all those fumes/pollution) - however that is one great render. Brilliant modelling, texturing and lighting.
Maybe put the car in a proper scene - that would make it look even better.

I too do not car for car models much - esp. racing cars, never the lesssomething this well done is enjoyable anyway (much as the movie cars is).
As to global warming (as caused by humans), even if it were true; all of the race cars in the world would not produce enough emissions to make any real difference.

Model is great and render is almost there :). Right now it looks like it has some alliasing problems or is it 'coz you used specific HDRI image to reflect so it looks jaggy/sharp at some places. Also I'd change camera angle to pronounce that car is long and not too wide - right now it looks fat :) ;). I'd liek to test drive it at my render environment so if you are interested please drop me a note so we might make some swap/exchange with models since i don't have time to make my own MP4-21 ;).
And, yes update us when you get some nice environment photos to make composition.
cheers

Sorry I missed a question, How long have been at this model ..?
I started this model pretty much in January, once I had seen the new livery for the mclaren f1 team - hmm 6 months, seems a very long time, but alas I keep on finding things that I want to change .. or add on ..
I am not too big on render techniques but what you see above is my attempt from what I know [dont have time to learn new ways] basic radiosity and HDRi
Lightwave is 100% just a hobbie for me and unfortunately I do not take it at all that seriously [as I am primarily a flash developer] but I know I should, as I really do enjoy playing around with it. But that is it -- enjoy playing --
I used to enjoy Flash a he11 of alot more when it was just a hobbie rather than a source of income. That is why I keep it at that level of enjoyment - I would hate, absolutely hate to lose that with Lightwave, having said that I do love Flash and everything about it, although t has lost its mystek if you know what I mean ..
Cheers,
L
