View Full Version : Oriental Lilium
HI. I need some comms about this. Does it look natural? as later I will take this out of context and juxapose it with another model. So I need to present it as a natural looking flower.
The modelling is really very good. The textures are good as well but something is missing and I'm not sure what it is. Maybe the petals need to be a little translucent.

looks really nice,
a couple of small things I noticed..
the texture in the petals doesnt appear to follow the petal..
did you model & texture them straight and morph into position or use uv's?
also where the flower meets the stem seems "plastic"..maybe a fatter base or a faint hairyness?
again, its a great pic, I'm just looking for issues..

Thanks guys
I might try to break the vein texture up a bit more I had a look at a refrence image and the veins actually spread out from the centre like that. As to the translucency I rendered from underneath the flower you can see it quite clearly but when you look at it front on the effect diminishes. I try to get some new images tomorrow
Excellent work, my only crit is that it looks too perfect which makes you think 'artificial'. I would add some >> SUBTLE << blemishes to keep it real.

the most obvious thing, which to my surprise no one has mentioned, is the green! It needs to be deadened.
Also the lack of detail in the actual central part of the flower.
But keep it up

The pistol and stamen are too straight looking, perfect, looks like obvious cloning.

The problem is that this type of flower looks fake anyway!
Try a bit of dew, maybe?

Look like this is going to be harder than I thought. Antway I thought I'd upload the most recent render. I shall go off and tweak.
