Hello, all...

I know it's unconventional to post 2D or video works here, but I wanted to share an assignment I recently completed for a compositing class. Lightwave was used to create the desert background (excpept for the trees, those are just DXF's I found online) and also for the particle effects. 3D motion tracking was done with the now-defunct Icarus:Calibration app.

Download movie-Quicktime 5 req'd; 3.5 megs (http://www.dereksdigital.com/stage/Final-hi.mov)

I know it's not much, but I certainly had fun making it. Here are some stills from the piece, showing the Lightwave elements.

That's a very nice surface on the grubby desert - what settings did you use?

Yeah, I like the desert. How about some details?

Hello,

Rather than try and take screen shots of all the different settings, I went ahead and zipped the surface file, so anyone can feel free to download it and take a look. As is sometimes the case with surfacing, this was created for a specific lighting and camera setup, so it might look different in your scene.

Enjoy!
