VoiceMaster Pro and SPDIF connections

Hi All,

I'm looking at the Focusrite VoiceMaster Pro (VMP) for the voice recording input to the computer:

This is a microphone preamp, compressor and combo-effects unit that can also include an internal A/D converter board that ends in a SPDIF-out connection. Since the VMP is already doing the A/D conversion, what would be the cleanest most direct to disk connection that I can add to the computer? It doesn't make sense to run the signal through another set of circuitry on a sound card, but that seems to be the only way in that I can find. I gotta be missing something here...
