how do you make 4 different polygons ... into one object ... I need to do this so that i can smooth it ... (Tab Key) ...

I must say, that is one of the worst quality yet huge filesize images I've seen. Try and use jpg or gif images!
What 4 polygons are we taking about here? The edge of that heart looks like it could be subpatched (smoothed) just fine, if not perhaps a Merge points and Merge polygons operation might fix things.
For the larger polygons covering the front and back of the heart, you'll have to slice those up since only 3 and 4 point polygons can be subpatched in LW. Or find a different way altogether of creating that heart, personaly for such a simple shape I think you could get by with less polygons/patches. Imho the fewer patches you use to define a shape - the better! (Although one should still respect the edgeloops). It makes it easier to work with and you'll be making the best use of the subpatches inherent abilitys to create smooth curvy shapes without the need to add more geometry.
