This is one model in a large scene that I am doing, but it is one of my favorites so I am rendering it separate. Besides the fact that the wheels should not be reflecting anything. Please critique and rip apart.
I am bad at horizons. How I make this look better?
Are these Legos?
Some environmental reflections would add to the realism, plus anti-aliasing.

Yep those are Legos:dance: All of the objects already have 40 percent reflection on them. As I said above I am really bad at horizons and environments. What type of reflections are we talking about? I rendered the scene with a PLD 4 pass anti-aliasing, maybe I need to bump it up.
Well, if you don't want to model what's surrounding the Lego set, an image representing it can be set to reflect.
In the Surface Editor (F5), Environment tab, set an image to "Reflection Map" and set Reflection options to "Ray Tracing + Spherical Map."

Ok I will try that here soon. Realized after I posted that the reflection of the PDV on the road is way off. Going to completely redo road surface. Forgot to save previous scene :bump: have to set it up again. Will post when I have made the changes

Looks good, but where's the Lego logo on each and every stud?
Slacker...
I built a mini-fig a few years ago. I'll email it to you if you want it.

:i_agree: slacker definately. I attempted to render a little bit of the over all scene with the LEGO symbol on the studs, but it took forever. The PDV Blue is running around thirty thousand polys and that is after I went through manually and destroyed another twenty thousand. I would love to see your figure, but I think the best way to do it would to post it here as an attached .zip. My email tends to be screwy.

Here is the next version. Still not happy with it. Need ideas on taking out the gradient backdrop and putting something real-ish or real in. The wheels need help. I tried the textured reflections, but I couldn't get it to work real well. Maybe the gradient washed it out. Anyway have at it.

Well, it sucks, but here it is. This little guy was built in '98 roughly, either in 5.6 or 6. There's alot I would do different today, but I'll leave that up to you now. Hope you can make good use of it.
The glass part of your vehicle looks really good, and the modeling looks good too. For me, the reflections are too sharp and too intense. Especially on the flat surface of the road. A micro bump map there would make a world of difference. Take a really close up look at some "played with" legos, and you'll see lots of nicks and scratches. Use bump maps for that too.

 Thanks for the crits and the LEGOdude. Here is the next version. The reflection thing is sort of planned. I agree with you on the microbump, but I wanted the reflections. I might make the road slightly more reflective than it is, but we will see.

Legos and Lightwave, two of my favorites!
Looks good. One option for the background is just to let it fog to black or gray, if that doesn't interfere with your concept of the environment.

I like the idea, but how would I go about doing that? :stumped:

At top-left of Layout, Window > Volumetrics and Fog Options.

:alien: I tried adding the fog, but I couldn't get it to be hazy only in the distance. DOF might solve my problem, but I am not sure that is exactly what I want.
