Hi there!
Just wanted to say HI! from the greatest Animation Festival in the world (when the world is france, I suppose?). No really, it`s amazing, how one small city can be transformed into a mess of animation freaks - a whole city living and breathing animation for a whole week! Someone had a movie here? Thought I heard something like that... now the french key layout is driving me crazy and the next screening is waiting - Tim Burton wants us to see the Corpse Bride. Don`t know - everybody wants to see it again - maybe the version with 2000 people shouting and screaming will be a different experience ;) just like CARS! and MONSTER HOUSE! Wohoooooo!
Greets.

The world cup just started man, shouldn't you be back home watching that, instead of looking at cartoons in france?:screwy:

I wonder how my film did.
You got me all excited about the festival (I forgot about it) but today was the last day... and less than an hour drive away! Could you remind me next year BEFORE the festival ends?
I did make it to Cannes this year even though I wasn't invited. I prefer Sun Dance where you can actually go without resorting to sneaking into things. I was given an excellent DVD though (I looked very important) called "The Masters of 3D SFX and Animation" touting all the tallent in France by Film France. Very good work coming out of France.
P.S. Let us know how your film did ColinCohen.

That's what I'd like to know. I wasn't there. :)
I read that there were a number of animated shorts at Cannes. Did you get a chance to see any of them?
Did you actually stay in Cannes? Everything, I would think, must be outrageously expensive.
Cannes film fest isn't open to the public. You can get a list of the various criteria for you to qualify to attend Cannes (there is an animation criteria). I had never been there durring the festival and I wanted to see what it was like.
I suppose it is expencive to book a hotel there durring the Festival but I found things in general to be fairly reasonable concidering the event and I was calling at the last minute.
I took the wife and kids and went to a campground with a pool and small restaraunt and made it a camping trip for four days. I thought I was so clever but was astonished to find some others who would come out of their tents in their fancy black clothes heading into town too. Staying a week in the campsite was cheaper than one night in a hotel (especially with multiple occupants), and the small hotels don't generally have pools in Cannes.
I wouldn't like to do that every year but it was fun for the family.

Annecy Film Festival is fantastic.
Been there four times :)
Colin, pitty I wasnt there this year, I would have pay attention to your film like being mine :(
There is a website somewhere for the festival, you can find the results there.
As far as World Cup, its a different pleasure. Too hard to follow everything that is going on.

That's so funny. Too bad you didn't have a video camera with you -- it would've made an interesting documentary.
Panikos, maybe at some future Annecy we will meet -- perhaps when we both have films there.

iDV8: Sorry, I packed my stuff rather in a hurry, because the annecy-week approached sneakingly fast! So I forgot to ask before and in Annecy I was happy to order some tickets on the webstations, but had no time to do some forum- or email-checking. :/
ColinCohen: Unfortunately I 'only' got to watch the competition programs 'short films', 'graduation films', 'feature films' (4 out of 6 I think), 'commissioned films', and 2 further special screenings. And I got a nice tan.
I think there will be some photos up this week...
