Smoothing option no longer works?

Hello. Right now i'm useing version 8.0 and i've run into a strange problem. In modeler the smoothing option no longer works or has any effect on my model. I first noticed this while I was giving a name to a surface. Has anyone else ever run into this problem?

If you apply smoothing to the default surface, then give the polygons a surface name, smoothing will no longer be applied, because those polygons are not using the default surface. Open the surface editor and apply smoothing to the newly named polygons and your smoothing will work again.
If you apply a bunch of texturing settings to the default and deside to appy a name to the polygons, instead of going through all the channels, to change the settings, you can right click on the default sureface name and copy the settings, then right click on the new surface name and paste the settings.

If you are unsure what polygons have a new surface name, in modeler, you can click the w key to bring up a statistics panel, while in polygon mode(ctrl-h) You can scroll down to the surface name, select the new name, then click the + symbol and polygons that have that surface name will be selected.
