The product literature for VT [5] says that there will be an optional 8 input SDI BoB (price and shipdate undetermined). Has anyone seen *any* info on this? We're looking at possibly upgrading all of our live switch cameras to SDI.
I called Newtek and left a message for Zane but haven't heard anything back yet.
TIA

...............while switching 8 serial digital sources,” said Philip Nelson, NewTek Vice President of Sales and Video Marketing. “Five outputs can be assigned to program, preview, source or alpha, providing the flexibility needed for high end post and live production facilities.”
So 8 SDI inputs and 5 assignable outputs (ISO feeds)
So I guees you can switch up to 8 SDI inputs...buts thats all I know from Phils press release

Apparently it connects to the 'control' port on the VT card and I heard that it was to be price similarly to the SX-84. But no one has actually seen one yet.

OK after a couple of informative e-mails from Paul I've got a handle on how the SDI BoB works. It's a 1U or 2U addition. It has 8 SDI in and 8 SDI out. The first 3 outputs are reserved for the VT's internals and the other 5 are user assignable.
The SDI BoB is connected to the VT cards by the VT5 cable which is then looped to the SX-84. All of the SX-84 analog ins and outs are still available.
The old SDI card has been re-engineered onto the front of the VT 4 card. This is a good thing since I don't think the motherboard on VT system has a slot for it.
Price and shipdate aren't set yet.

Read this thread and hoping to have a solution for my client. They currently bought VT with SDI option and was installed on Dell Precision 690. The problem, this machine only has 1 PCI slot which the VT is using, thus, there is no slot for the SDI. And when I asked Dell, they say no boards now has 2 PCI.
"The old SDI card has been re-engineered onto the front of the VT 4 card" How does this work? And if it does not need to sit on a PCI slot, where does it sit? And when can we expect it?
I hope there are concrete answers as client needs to know. Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

Solved ... put the VT card on the PCIx slot and SDI on the PCI slot. It works! But client do not have SDI equipment yet so have yet to try.
