Hello people this is my first ever post..
I'm working on a large project for a games company using LW. A problem I'm having is that there are nearly 1000 Lights in my scene as flares and I cant seem to use spreadsheet to control the Lensflare values. You can easily change 1000 lights colour or add envelopes or even switch of the lensflare option but you cant do a multiple select in Scene Editor and change the values in the Lensflare menu. Make sense? Specificaly I need to change the Nominal Distance on multiple lights, any suggestions....
Hope someone has some ideas cause I'm on a tight deadline and I have tried everything....

Hmmm, a quick search for 'Lens Flare' on Flay.com revealed this little snippet that looks promising:
Global selective light editor
Change lighting parameters on a global, group or individual level.
Includes changes for light:
Color, intensity, intensity falloff, range, nominal distance, affect (diffuse, specular, caustics, opengl), Light Type, Cone Angle, Soft Edge ANgle, Shadow Type, toggle cache shadow map, shadow map size, lens flare, flare intensity, volumetric lighting.
LW65 LW70
Maybe give it a try - You can get info on it here:

Thanks for that but it does not let control actual Lens Flare parameters. Like niminal distance, I might try and map an evelope to each one but I would I have to do that by hand to a 1000 lights. All I want to do is change there NOMINAL DISTANCE to match the size of the Scene!!! LW sux sometimes.....

All I need to do is be able to globally control how the lens flares shrink with distance..there must be something out there

I don't have my LW to hand as I write, but the flares are stored in the scene file, and the older ones were plain text.
I can't remember if there is the option to save an older format scene, but if you can do this, then you can just text search and replace on the scene, (save a copy first!), to get what you want.
(I used a text scene edit to make a sky with several thousand stars as small flares with the correct brightness!)

allow block selection replacement, etc...very useful

Well, since its stored in the scene file, its not a major issue to write simple LScript to do the work - LScript is pretty good at a lot of stuff... I used it to manage Web Server log files! :)
But I wouldn't be surprised if someone may have already written an LScript for LensFlare management? If not, maybe I should add it to my list! :)

i tryed but wasn't so easy coz of lensflare options coded.
my project is aborded.
another thing ReflectionElement seems to appear only if u modify first in Layout.
try it , and if it's possible, make a better interface for Lensreflections...:))

Have never attached images before, dont now if this works but check it out:eek:
Its an Avi I'm working on, aerial bombardment of planet, around 100,000 particles, using HV and other bits...looks crazy animated..
can you use "FXLinker" to link lights to particles maybe? that way you could just tweak one light then clone it 1000 times and they all go where you want them
