I did these today for an engineering firm. They are submitting a proposal to add barrier railing to the curb of a sidewalk to protect pedestrians. These are far from perfect, I know, but I was given a very short period of time to do it in. The rendering took only three minutes, but the setup took a few hours. I had to do a little post in PaintShop and a couple of the shots had some shadowing problems. I am fixing a few of them up, but the client is still VERY impressed with the work.
The first one is the original photo. I did 4 different styles, but these are the ones that turned out the best. The last one I couldn't resist...just for fun!
A huge learning experience doing this project. I have only been using LW for a few weeks at home.
Comments and crits welcome.

For the wall I think you should load up the brick texture in a paint program and make it seamless.

Good crit. Other non-pro graphics people never even noticed :D. I didn't have a whole lotta time to work with that tiling. I got it from a place that boasted it as a "seamless" tile. (whatever). At least I didn't pay for it.
Good eye and thanks for looking. I will work on that one Monday.
Thanks for the good word evolution. I'm a total noob too.

Well done that Duder!
Same as above, I like the third one the best. The texture thing will take little or no time to fix.
Gotta say, you've matched the lighting pretty much spot on for each shot too. Maybe think about softening the shadows just a touch, but thats all - I'm no pro either!!
Ace first job.

Thanks, Duder-onomy! And good crits all.
Matching the lighting was a snap. I have one distant light to approximate sun direction at 100% and set global ambience to 15%. Then I used the original photo as a backdrop using "Textured Environment" so the radiosity renderer could figure some of that into the final render. It worked out great and lit the scene WAYY better than my first attempt with no backdrop. Its not exactly a light probe, but it did the trick for this shot.
