This is the first textured version of one of my racers (see texturing). Super lo poly mesh because I cant be bothered to wait all day for renders.

And a mesh, because everyone allways wants one... not that there is much to show!

If you are unwilling to wait for renders then I suggest changing your career path/hobby.

It is hard to tell what the heck your model looks like in the views you supplied. Perhaps a decent 3-point lighting setup would be in order.

Its for an animation, and whist im still doing the animating, i dont want to have to wait 4 hrs for it to finish when I only made a small change... Anyway here is a 'better lit' version with more views than ever before!...

Come on Rei. You have to admit thats not very inspiring.
Why don't you wait until you really have something to show before posting. I'm not trying to get down on you as I know you can model after seeing the last ship but why not wait and show us your best work?

Cheers,
JS

Well, its just because I wanted to show it to somone. I have just doubled the size of the texture map (just one) and am now adding more detail, and I will also add a bump map too (probably)

This is a game model right?

I'm thinking of doing weekly races, build a track texture and animate one a week. Its 38 polys (count 'em!)

More update.

Im going to make short movies with a few more, make a track every week. Its 38 polys...

Another Update (after a short bit of jumping on a floppy!)

Its for a load of race movies that I am going to make, have 12 racers and make a new track each week. Hopefully. Think Wipeout.

Cool. I reckon the red ones gonna win them all. 'Cause everyone knows "rEd wOnz Go faSta!"

Keep it up

4 hours for a animation test render? how slow is your computer? Use "Quickshade"? at low res? Surely you can afford a couple hundred polys - at least to get rid of those smoothing errors

I dont have 4 hr animation tests, I said I dont want 4 hr animation tests.

The red one is going to be the NT one, so prehaps. Ya think I should have a Alias|wavefront one that gets kicked by the NT one each time?

If you don't want the polys but still want the detail...

Make a really complex version and render all the radiosity and caustics and detail to a uv map via surface baker.

By using a uv bump map you can make the objects looked really detailed, and the render time will be low.

Its what I did for my game (the weapons had to effectivly render 30 times a second)

There low everything, the texture maps are also low res. Still Ill think about that, allthough i do like the way they are coming. Wana build one for me? (get loads of banners along the racetracks!)

Ooo can I? :D

Whats the poly limit?

99sproth
05-31-2003, 04:23 PM
Well, i only had 3 mins...

Its all prebaked into a texture map and a bump map. Even the shadows are pre rendered. It takes under s second to render. 38 polys!

U have a hotmail account, we need to talk. Poly count is around a max of 60 so far.

Rei , I recall your mentioning you don't want to waste time on rendering high-poly versions.....So , I'm very curious .....What's your PC configuration ?!? I mean , as the model does not look too complex , I don't expect it would take more than a few seconds to render , even in high-poly .
The look is great . It's a point that nobody could ever understand art in its right way ..... It doesn't have to be complex to be cool .
