I've been making uvmapped static meshes for Raven sheild but it's editor only imports 'ase' files exported from 3ds max. I've been to the rs forums and just keep bein told to by max but is there any plugins etc to support 'ase' exports...or maybe a lightwave to max exporter (that exports the uv coordinates too) to 3ds max so my friend can get them into the game. ps Ive noticed that unreal ed 2003 is so far the only ed to import lwo's directly.......nevermind "sigh"

hi!

Try milkshape.. it was build to make low-poly halflife models...

List of Fileformats (http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/ms3d/index.html)

Its free and will export 3dstudio .asc format... of course it can import .lwo but it seems only till 6.5 any higher is only export...

But you can try to export into another format which is native to LW... maybe obj or dxf... but you also can export 3ds directly from lightwave... but i dont know if they are any good for your use...

I've tried milkshape without much success but intrestingly enough were going to try tripling my models and then export them to max as 3ds files....i just hope the uv's come through otherwise i have to redo the uv's in max....oh joy!

cheers!

well i exported via 3dexploration from righthemispheres .lwo files to 3ds to use them in oxygen, a modeler for OperationFlashpoint... where you had to do all kind of stuff in a foreign language... like LODs and the like.. and texturing...

The 3ds file export is going abit strange. especially when the model turns up in max but you may be onto something with 3d exploration. I'll download the demo of the deep exploration file converter and see how i go....

Ok i've got the mode through to 3ds max from lightwave. max can see my surfaces and the model looks ok (i'm using a church ruin i used surface baker on so i've got all the shadows pre rendered etc). but i dont know enough about max to arange the uv's so first thing tommorrow i'm starting my little max course so that one day i might achieve 'ASE' files for me unreal ed. lol nevermind eh!
