creating rain and other weather types

Hi, could anyone please tell me how I can create simple rain, snow or lightning in my scene?

Is it simple?? I'm quite new to lightwave

You can use a particle system for rain and snow...

thanks, it's just knowing what to do with the particles. I've got the Gravity dynamic, but not sure of what next..
