Just stopping work on my Mclaren as I need to really get my new site up and running.
Ive been trying to implement some 3D into my new site although I am principally a Flash designer .. but I thought I may as well throw in some 3D [hmm, Swift is pretty expensive]
Anyways, here is the start of my brand, geez its taken me 5 hours to get to this stage and I have another 6 letters to model. Unfortunately my brand font is unable to import into Lightwave, which, is that case, would've only taken me 5min, but alas I have had to model every letter and it has been alot of trial and error to get it looking reasonable .. already over 1100 polys
However if you guys have any cool ideas of what I could do with this [logo] please do not hesitate to let me know .. hopefully I'll have the other letters done and dusted tonight ..
Cheers,
L

Looks good! I have never tried it before, but I think you can use Adobe Illustrator to trace 2D images (like a large jpg of your logo) and maybe even directly from font text to create splines that you can import into LightWave. I saw the technique referenced (but not demonstrated) in a couple of training videos.

Hmm, cheers Jeff,
Yea I think there is a way to import vector outlines into lightwave but had finished it by the time I thought of it .. however I might give it a try at a later stage .. at this point I'd hate to think I just wasted nearly 8 hours ..
Nb: I initially used the pen tool and traced (as you would in Illustrator) an bg image (in modeler) but alas it rendered horribly ..
Cheers,
L

you can deffinantly use illustraitor. I use it for building house. (floor plane).
then extrude. it works great with text with a bevel and extrude.
I beleave its the eps.p import

What I did was point model the whole thing from 1 poly and hit it with the knife (CTRL+T is your friend) then moved, copy, undo, pasted the 'pane' - then poly'd up the gaps in between the front and rear 'panes' ..
Not sure if this is the best way, but I do enjoy point modeling .. 90% of everything I have posted on these forums would have been point modeled ..
Cheers

Looks good!!!
I think a nice lime green with orange yellow glassy/transparent look will go nice with it!!! That off course taking that you'll have the green background as you currently do on your site!
Cheers for beers!
