Hi All. I'm trying my hand at modelling a head. Not too bad progress until I decided to do a test render. The crazy points you see in the render are the vertices of the poly cage. Now I ask myself "WTF?". I included in the render a head that ships on the contend CD to see if it was my render settings or something....NOPE! LW simply doesn't like my head. Can anybody tell me why I am getting a render like this? I started out box modelling this guy. I formed the mouth with 2 horiz. rings and welded the points at the corners of the mouth and around the back of the head. Is this were I went wrong? The crazy horiz. ring above the mouth was created using the knife tool. I have NO idea why this looks strange. I checked for duplicate verts and polys...none there.

They are the 2 point polys.
hit 'w' in poly mode, click the '+' in front of 2 point poly and if any 1 point poly, them too and hit delete.

Thanx for the tip, but it didn't solve the problem. There were 8 2-polys inside the mouth and I deleted them. Those points and rings are still rendering. I have included the *.lwo file if anyone can see what I'm doing wrong, I would be SOOOOOOOOOO in your debt. :help: :stumped:

Prospector is right. That solves the problem. I've attached the fixed file after I got rid of the 1 and 2 vert polygons. Click on the "+" sign in the stats window next to where I highlighted the rows and then press "delete". Renders fine after.

As Prospector said, there were 24 2 point and 132 1 point polys. Make sure you are in poly mode, hit "w", check + sign next to 2 vertices and 1 vertex then delete. Good luck.
Attached is a corrected head.

This community is so great! I freaked the first time I had to learn about this a few months ago! I thought LightWave really sucked at the time, but got used to checking for all those things, and later learned to be aware and notice whenever I create them.
Keep on learning - it gets more fun and easier the more experience you get!

 That is SOOO Awesome, guys! Thanks a bunch. Now the question is...why didn't those show up in MY file? Here is a screenshot of the "Point Statistics" window. I downloaded the corrected file, it's all good. Thanx again. Maybe someday I'll know enough to help you guys out.
Edit: Nevermind. My dumb A** was looking at the Point statistics, not the Polygon stats.....DUHHHHH! I've been set straight now....thanks a LOT!

Look closely at my screen shot of the stats window. It says "Polygon statistics". You need to be in Polygon mode. Hit space bar!
