Hello everybody
here some rendering of my still-on-working project of an ancient roman town. This time I have tried to put around some people/animals to make the town a little more alive...
I have also added a "clean and blue sky" as the one that can be seen close to the see in Ostia. Remember also that at that time (the picture is Ostia around 150 A.D.) the pollution was a bit lower than today, so the sky was naturally more blue. I have modeled it apart and then I have added it as a background layer to the main picture in Photoshop. This is mainly due to the radiosity scene I use for the rendering, where it is (at least for me :o ) impossible to avoid the sky to interact with the rest of the scene.

Any criticism is more than welcomed....

Thank you

Julius

More great work...

As for the sky, if it was just lighter and a little less saturated, I think it would be less distracting.
I almost hate to suggest this... but what would really sell it for me is if you pulled back just a bit and added a whole lot more people (I'm sure your poly count & render times could always use inflating :D )

Your work is really good.

But I think that the sky doesn't made justice to the modelling and texturing job.

Have a look on this pages, maybe you find one that helps you:

Anything else is really good. The floor looks unrealistic as well if you compare with any other architecture. And if you can add a bit of dirtiness on he Arch and sculptures, only a bit on that times I doubt they had as much contamination as we have now! :)

Best regards,
David

Really like the texture work on the buildings, but I agree with other comments about the sky.
If it's a still final image you want and not an animation, I'd look at using photographs of skies and comping them in. You cound even take your own and use them as a HDRI lighting map...plus you get to go out on a sunny day. We could all do with that after a session in front of a hot monitor

Hello everybody,
thank you very much for your comments, they are very useful for me. As already pointed other times, after hours and hours in front of a monitor, I tend to "filter" the images and have different perception of my work. Your comments are very useful for me to remove this automatic filter out of my mind.
I will apply a different sky and I will try to make a more convincing road. It is useless to say that I have tried several "solutions", but none of them look convincing. I really need to change strategy...

I will post shortly, I hope, new images with a different looking road.
In the meantime, thank you again, and warm regards....
