I'm a relative newbie to Lightwave and a complete newbie to this forum(Hi!).
I've taken a look around the web to try and find tutorials on creating a good 'fluid' movement.
I intend to make an effect where I have still picture of myself and have a drink go into my mouth, but have yet to come across one that looks good.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Build some geometry the average shape of a flow of liquid from the glass to your mouth.
SubD it - hit Tab.
Send it to Layout.
Position geometry and camera to match the shot you're comping into.
In the Object Properties-Deform tab, go to Displace dialog and add a procedural, try Turbulence for instance. Then animate it's position settings so the geometry takes on the effect of flowing - work at it, this is a good way to do a flow like this.
In the same way, use procedurals to animate bump and transparency, maybe even a clip-map to do a reveal as the water initially goes from the glass to your mouth.
HVs work great but they can be very slow and sometimes you need to examine simpler ways of achieving things before going to heavyweight stuff like HVs.
You may find some tuts around the web to do with animating procedurals for displacement, etc. Have a look at Larry Schultz's website:
http://www.splinegod.com
as he sells video tutorials that cover this - there may be some free stuff as well, or if not there then:

you'll have to register, but worth a look.
