Help? My Tricaster was delivered today. I have registered it. But, I can't get past the "Administrative Mode" screen. When I try to launch the tricaster program, it just sends me back to the same screen. HELP???

I'm having the same problem as She Ra - Tricaster only boots up to Administrtator screen and will not launch program. I've had this device for several months and so far am having about 50% success in it operating correctly. Rigth now I'm setting up for a shoot that starts in the morning and there is no support, and no useful troubleshooting advice and this thing is DOA. Gonna be a fun morning with my client...

Last time it happen to us was because of the KVM, but strange enough that particular unit does not allow KVM. (pss, we been using KVM all this while)
Guys, what did it said in your Device Manager? Happen to see the VT Hardware?

Have you called tech support about your problems? That isn't a normally operating TC. Please, don't ever put up with a long standing problem, call us and we'll figure out what is wrong.
As for KVM switches, we've had mixed results. We've tried several for shows and had very mixed results. We have found one good USB switchbox but I can't remember the model right now.
One of the keys to using a KVM is to make certain that it has a manual switch. It can be a pushbutton, electronic type, but the ones that accept keystrokes to make the switch don't seem to work well at all.

I have never had a problem with keystroke KVM switches, one of which I have used for TriCaster since TriCaster was born. I have never had a problem with same when doing dealer demos, either. In fact, I have never heard of problems with them before here.
I don't know who "we" is, but suspect it is just John Perkins.

I may be crazy, but we're not schizophrenic ;)
How about we as in Aussie, Paul, Don, Ralph, Philip and myself?
We get stuck with a lot of different switches, keyboards and mice on the road. From what we've seen, you managed to find a good KVM and would be interested in what model it is.

Wow. That's an impressive group to have confirmed late on a Saturday afternoon.

Well, mine is "IOGEAR" bought, based on price, at Comp USA. If I stumble over any kept paper work, or when I get back by C USA and find, I'll let you know the model. Don't know what the dealer had, except that it was not the same.

Maybe it's due to having discussed it for the past few months while the tour is happening? I didn't anticipate the need to record the conversations.
It's like getting a receipt for a donut. Who would ever ask you for proof? ;)
(Credit for the donut joke that I butchered goes to Mitch Hedberg, one of my favorite comedians. R.I.P.)

I'm a fairly visual thinker John, and I am having this awful time getting a mental picture of all of you guys hanging around the water cooler talking about how terrible KVM switches are. I mean you all don't go to all the tour events together do you? How many have you done, John?
Then, perish the thought, I can see someone walking up and asking about VT4 and all those bugs that just didn't get fixed for 4.6, and how it's crashing left and right. Little pause, and then... "Naw, it's them KVM switches causing all the problems."
Seriously, those folks might feel different about them if they used them every day as I tend to do. When I was demoing, it was both VT and TriCaster, switching back and forth between them as driven in small group discussion. My only concern was that the participants might get confused since both were being run from the same monitor and keyboard. I made sure to tell them when and to which I was switching.
I really do try to keep up with the related things John, and you, and OK, Aussie, Paul, Don, Ralph, and Philip are the first ones to say that KVM switches "that accept keystrokes to make the switch don't seem to work well at all." I mean that is a pretty strong condemnation from some pretty knowledgeable people.

John is correct.
We have seen problems with some KVM switches... and yes he is correct, we have spent TON of time trying to track down the issue.
Actually more people than the list have been involved in this issue... Add Jerm and Andrew to that list too.
I'm glad that you have found a good KVM..
FYI: I just did a demo at Videotex with TriCaster/VT[4] and a Keystroke KVM.. but I tested like mad before the demo..
Thanks for being so passionate about our products!
BTW: Since this IS NewTek we are talking about... We don't really hang around the watercooler but there is ALWAYS a crowd around Tim's new robotic Espresso machine.

It is IOGEAR, MiniView, Micro, w/audio, Model GCS612A.

It is keystroke only: double click, "Scroll Lock".

We found some for NAB that seemed to work fine.. Not sure what brand. :)
Been too busy with TriCaster PRO and SpeedEDIT stuff to even unpack the boxes.. ;)
