Hello you guys ^_^

As you may have guessed, im uber noob to the whole LW scene.
This model which i called after my first Tarantula, has been made with the aid of Inside Lightwave 8 By Dan, and the Texturing book by Leigh.
Great books if you ask me :)
I hope you like it, and PLEASE feel free to enlighten me on the aspects you think could have been done better :)
Sorry if the tarantula comes off a little naked :o
I tried using saslite and i just cant get it to work...not even a little bit of unnatural lookin fur lol.
Any ideas?
Thanx up front you guys :)

You need to do a few things to get it running.
Read thru this:

Thank you sooo much mate!
It works for me now and the first render turned out to be a rather fuzzy hair ball ^_^
I'll be tweaking and i shall share my results :D
Props to you

*Edit*

Here are the results :D
I think Saslite is awesome by the way!!!

Here is another angle of my good ol Buddy here :)
whats rather annoying now is that i have allready assigned the surfaces, which means i cant really change the surfaces to assign different fur types to different areas, i only have like 6 surfaces in total :o
I think i need to get into the habit of naming my surfaces before everything gets too complicated to name afterwards...
but anyways...here is the other angle ^_^ Enjoy

Much Cool. Please excuse my stupidity, but why couldn't you resurface the tanatula? You could have part of the object contain two different sufaces with the exact same surface properties. This would give you an alternate base for Saslite.

hey Skinner :)
Thanx for stopping by
Yeah, i did think of that, but the thing is that when u look at the mesh ull see how difficult it would be since its a salad...i still dont know how to clean the thing up and reduce polys.
But im positive once i get better at it, ill be editing this model.
ive been coming accross various models which have been re-visited, mostly first propper models like this one ^_^
But i do get what you mean, actually, i may try it, im allways up for a challenge :D
isnt there an easier way to select desired polys than selecting them in the perspective view?
in the other view ports you cant really select a surface unless you select everything and then deselect what you dont want...
Here's a lil pic of the mesh...it IS rather messy!

But expect an update ;)

Go into polygon mode then open the Statistics panel (button just to the right of the polygon button)

You will see a + and - symbols. So you can select a surface name then hit + and all those are highlighted.

Ohh now thats some wicked advise!
I just tried it and it works wonders :D

*EDIT*

Your nam eis permanently engraved in my head!
Massive props to you!
