Hello,
I'm not sure I choose the right section to ask this question, if not sorry about that.
I got problems to bake color information into a vertex color map.
Basically I have a terrain which I have displaced using procedural textures, then textured using several texture layers only in the color chanel of the surface (gradient, etc...) then baked the color into a texture, and lightmap into another one : for these steps, no problems.
So i have a 1024*1024 texture I use for color inside the surface at the end, and a 1024*1024 texture I use as lightmap (but only in the realtime 3D engine).
What I want to do now, is to bake the color texture into a vertex color map, it will be less detailled of course than the texture, but enough for me because I use alpha splatting technique at realtime to add detail to the texture.
So i'm using the Lightwave Surface Baker shader to try to bake the texture into the vertex color map, but the only thing i'm able to bake is the illumination. I have only one object, checked the "Bake Entire Object" box, the "Bake Color", and selected "Bake to - Object" into the drop down menu. Then I render the scene, but the only thing I get as vertex color map is grayscale. I have tried to check other boxes, but the only thing i'm able to bake is the illumination.
I'm using Lightwave 8.5, does someone has an idea of what i'm doing wrong ? According to some tutorials I found either on official website or external ones, this should work.
Also, is it normal that I have to use "Save as transformed object" to save the vertex color map produced ?
I hope someone will be able to help, spent few hours today around that trying to find a solution and I must say I run out of ideas.
Best regards,
Pierre
