Anyone know of some good free video codecs that are preferably lossles and compress well and are free? Im rendering high res (1280x720) so quicktime is about 10megs a sec and avi is worse. Any ideas?

You might want to try the Divx codec and player at http://www.dvix.com. Also there is another called Xvid [do a search on Google]. You may also want to try Mpeg4 (Mp4) - used mainly for web streaming.

I have xvid and it compresses pretty well. Also with network rendering, what image type is best to save as? I would prefer small file size with high quality.
The PNG image format makes the smallest files that are lossless and have an alpha channel. It's one of the most compatible formats with LW too.
