Hello,
This is my first model i have posted. Im planning on making some characters and a few more guns and making a little animation. I need a little help with the textures and the glass at the top of my gun. Also i think my model lacks parts on it that have relevant use (other than little creveses to make it look cool). anything will help and nothing gets better without a little critisism. ill get a wireframe posted as soon as i can :)
All the best :)

looks good but I think the muzzle part of the barrel needs to be thicker (if this is a projectile gun). As for the textures it looks like it could be a fairly new gun so just try playing around with a few reflection maps and see what you get.

Holy Crap that is a lot of polys!
A majority of the model looks too soft - at least for me. I would revisit the model and tighten up a lot of the edges.
Cool design though.
I would really look at the subdivision level. Some areas seem really high and then other areas a OK.

Yeah i kinda killed a few polygon counts in some areas like the grip but its kinda hard 2 undo that now :( but i have learned and will do better in the future heh. Here is another render i just have to add some invoroment to see how the reflection maps work.
When you say that the barells are too big the gun is meant to be a plasma or laser gun so that is why i made them large :) but some sugestions on how i would get a nice plasma beam or shot or a nice laser would b nice :) thnx

Volumetric lighting. If you're not familiar with it, just use the preset that looks like a ray of light and adjust it from there.

Ok here is another render i think i kinda made it to shiny and if anyone knows any good texture sites that would b great. I tried to do the volumetric lighting and i tried to make a beam but it didnt work :( I dont know what i am doing wrong -_-a. Also when animating how would you make like blood spew out of a body as particles. I dont know really how to use particles and such and any tutorials or advice would b apreciated. Thnx for all the comments.

hmmm..... a short tutorial volumetric light (i hope this works):
you should put a distant light at the point where the plasma beam begins, aim it right and enter the property panel, enable the "volumetric lightning". enter the "volumetric light options" and open viper, click "render" in the viper window. using a distant light creates a straight beam, you can control this at the "volumetric light options" panel, where you see "radius" and "height"... smaller radius is smaller beam of course smaller height will reduce the range of the gun... to actually see the beam, you may have to raise luminosity too 500% (more or less) Play around with attenuation and when you're feeling alright about it, try playing with textures...
hope this works (i don't have lw around here, but this should work)

I did a blood spray a little while ago using hyper voxles and just a deformation for the entry wound. Came out well.

Well thnx for all your comments :)
I am working on another render at the moment but every time i try and render it it freezez :( i dont think my com has enough memory. arrrg but ill try n get it rendered and ill post it. i made it look more alien like to because i was meaning for aliens or creature type things to use them.
All the best :)
