Hi,

I'd like to record the dialogue for an animated project in a soundproof closet next to the computer equipment. I'd like to be able to start the recording, stop it, listen to it on headphones, re-record if necessary, and then move on to the next sequence. I've looked at the wireless solutions like the Viewsonic Airpanel displays, but at $800, that's a little pricey. I could also get a small LCD monitor and string the cable into the closet, along with a wireless mouse and keyboard. Would work, but is clumsy. Is there an elegant yet not too costly method of doing this? I'm looking at LCD monitor solutions because it's going to get hot enough in there.

Thanks,

Tom Wood

I use a portable MiniDisc recorder and then just dump it into VT[2] when finished. Cost is cheap, portability and quality are great. Can't beat it for a multitude of production solutions.....

Any model will do or is there a specific one to use?

Right now I'm using a Sony RZ-900 with a stereo handheld mic. Not much bigger than the disc itself, it has awesome quality and gives me the flexibility to record background audio as well as sound effects very easily and unobtrusively. It has long play record mode too..... 2.5 hours on a disc. There are many models out there now for less than $150. I like the Sony for ease of service - but this one has been bulletproof. I'd have to recommend Sony !
