After all the times I've spent hours on setting up a scene and lighting, and still not being happy with it, here's one time when I set the scene and lighting up in literally 30 seconds, and it worked out perfectly)
I didn't even move the camera, and the lighting is just one area light with a falloff.
Hats off to the lightwave renderer I suppose, I didn't do anything)

Nice ... much of my best work either comes together very quickly (like yours) or is the result of some accidental keystroke or mouse-drag that triggers an unexpectedly cool result!

I think it's a nice image as well. Can I offer a couple of friendly crits? I think part of his hood is disappearing under his shoulder, though its hard to tell at this resolution, and I'd like to see a column or something nearby, with others barely visible in the darkness, that would give a sense of the vast room that he appears to be standing in...

cool model...we all know lighting can be a challenge...have you considered lighting the floor & your subject seperately? or exclude your lights to light only the floor & subject seperately?

Yes, I do composites sometimes, and export layers to photoshop for adjustment, but this just shows how darn simple a good render can be. (in lightwave at least)
