Hi,

I've built this low poly character for use in a game engine. I've set up her bones and rigging and am about to begin animation. I was going to hand animate her coat using bones but would really like to automate it in ClothFX. But how to start! I've combed the net and forums for tutorials but found little. Perhaps it's so straight forward it doesn't need a tute! I've also fiddled with settings in ClothFX but got nowhere useful.

Does anyone know of a how to set up tutorial? If not I'd be grateful for a quick list of steps or just pointer. Once in the right direction I'm sure I can fiddle with settings, etc.

The model is curently one mesh. I've tried using parts names but I'm not sure I'm putting them in the right settings. Also, I thought I'd got somewhere to find the bones were no longer effecting the mesh. My head's all of a spin!

Basically I want the coat to slide over her legs as she walks/runs/flying kicks. (usual game stuff!)

Thanks for any help in advance.

Leo

If you're using her in a game engine, does that game engine support cloth dynamics? Is she being animated by morphs? As this is the only way a game engine will take cloth deformations unless it has it's own cloth solver, in which case nothing you do in LW will matter to the engine cloth wise...

Hi Dodgy,

Thanks, I know what you mean. The game engine is using straight morphs so it's ok to use any of LW's anim tools.

I found these tutorials:

http://www.spinquad.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8822&page=1&pp=15

The second of which used ClothFX and has helped me to get something up and running... it's not working perfectly but at least with something running the Cloth section in the LW help is making more sense.

I'd recommend these tutorials to anyone starting out in LW because they touch on so many aspects while remaining simple to understand.
