VT 2 and Lightwave 7.5c

I can't get lightwave to run except in discovery edition mode (400 point limit in modeler saves)

I was a fool and downloaded the patch for lightwave 7.5c hoping it would work right off the bat. Just wanted to take a peek at the new features and had held off on the 7.5b.

I've got the "animator's edition" of the VT2, did the 7.5c patch screw up my licensing ?
Will the 7.5c patch not work for VT2 users with "toaster dongles" ?

Not too clear on that which you just said..

Do you mean:

1) That it should be working with the animator's edition of Lightwave bundled with VT2 and I'm having a problem NewTek hasn't come across yet..

2) NewTek is aware it won't work with the animator's edition and I missed that phrase in any readme files or on the webpage..

3) Or Paul doesn't know yet either way and will reply when he has an answer :)

Makes me wonder how many people got the full version of lightwave bundled with the Toaster.

Well, I said I'd get an answer, but that doesn't necessarily mean an answer you'll like. :(

The 7.5c install indeed erased the linkage your software needed to 'see' the Toaster card as its valid dongle. I'm afraid you'll need to stick with the LW bundle that came with your Toaster card until we can create a customized 7.5c installer for you.

That's fine, I'll re-install Lightwave and wait on the 7.5c custom install. Might I suggest a warning on the 7.5c download page that this download will not work for full lightwave VT2 bundles, or perhaps in the readme file ?

The other LW patches that didn't work with the full lightwave VT bundle at least wouldn't install, they would say the lightwave installation was invalid. This one fully installs fine and just leaves you with the demo version of lightwave.

Without some kind of warning on the download page, users may presume they've done something wrong and hassle your support staff :)

I've also just run into the same problem and only discovered this thread after the fact.

I'm also having problems with getting the latest VT2 patch [3890] to install on my system [3480i - Animator's Edition].

I get an error : "I cannot find a patchgradeable version of Video Taoster [2] This installation will now skedaddle."

Am I ignoarantly attempting the impossible, or is there another problem?

You must ensure you've downloaded the correct version, as there is a special version for the animator's edition.

Thanks for pointing out my error! The files I needed was VTPFLW3890.zip
which I'm now downloading. I found most of the download links for this file to be broken. The one link currently working is Newtek and the projected download time is *9 days* on my 56K modem. At least it's real time once installed. Gozilla download software is struggling to open more than 2 simultaneous connections. O wait - I now have 4 connections and I'm looking at 3 days, 5 hours. Here's hoping . . .

I'm not sure when it'll be ready, but I will certainly announce it's availability right here in VT General Support, Paul.
